Back for another exciting year of culinary competitions, tastings and unique dining experiences, the 6th annual Sunshine Skillet Food Festival, in partnership with Tourism Medicine Hat will be held on May 18 & 19, 2018.
Sunshine Skillet Breweries Tour:
Travel through Medicine Hat while sampling flights of beer at our two local breweries. Tour through each and learn how the beer is made, then head to a local pub for some appetizers, drinks, and local live music. Taking place Friday, May 18 from 6:00pm - 9:00pm. Sunshine Skillet Festival:
Culinary professionals, and foodies alike will all want to be at Sunshine Skillet during the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede Farmers Market! Tourism Medicine Hat invites you to watch chef Victor Hugo as he delivers cooking demonstrations using ingredients sourced locally. See the skill, speed and ingenuity as Victor works with limited equipment and time! FREE! The Sunshine Skillet Cooking Demonstrations are on Saturday, May 19 from 10:00am - 1:00pm in the Cypress Centre during the first Farmer’s Market of the year!
Sunshine Skillet Greenhouse Tour:
Join us for an exclusive look into the local greenhouse industry. Together we will tour one of the Sunshine Greenhouses full growing operation just outside Medicine Hat. See for yourself how tomatoes are produced from planting to packaging. After the tour you are in for a real treat! Local Chef Don Vermeeren will join us for a tasting experience. He will show us how to prepare some simple summer salads featuring locally grown vegetables and dressings created with the selections available at The Hat's Olive Tap. Taking place Saturday, May 19 from 1:30pm - 4:00pm. Tickets are $33.00, purchase at eventbrite,ca.
You won’t want to miss this unique dining experience; where five seasoned chefs will be collaborating to create a 5-course menu to remember. Authentically local, each will feature ingredients sourced from Southern Alberta, paired with a beverage. This year’s dinner theme “from past to present” will be enhanced by the unique setting of the Rhine Hall which was built in the 1940s and is located on the Stampede grounds. Eat, drink and celebrate!
