Hirsch Will Run For PC's In Provincial Election

Defeated three other candidates at Saturday's nomination meeting
Darren Hirsch has emerged as Medicine Hat's PC candidate for the upcoming provincial election.
Hirsch beat out three other candidates - Ian Baird, Dan Hein and Dr. Linda
Rossler - by winning majority at a nomination meeting Saturday afternoon.
Roughly 300 people were on-hand in the Wildrose Room at Higdon Hall to hear
their speeches ahead of the vote.
Hirsch says the work ahead of the spring election starts right away.
"It's gonna be very hectic," he said. "I don't underestimate any opponent,
I act like I'm in last place and I think if I have that mentality and work hard
and look to represent the people of Medicine Hat who drive me every day I think
we'll be successful."
Meantime, outgoing MLA Rob Renner says he's confident Hirsch will
secure the win.
"I believe that we're in a tremendously strong position to win the next
election and I have every reason to believe Darren is going to be the next
MLA."
398 votes were cast in a preferential-style ballot - the actual tally
remains confidential.
