Lanz Brothers To Receive WHL Distinguished Service Award

Balzer, Frank, John and Tony Lanz began their minor official duties with the Medicine Hat Tigers during the club's inaugural season in 1970.

Four Medicine Hat brothers will receive the Western Hockey League Distinguished Service Award this weekend. Commissioner Ron Robison will be in the Gas City on Saturday to present Balzer, Frank, John and Tony Lanz with the award. The brothers began their minor official duties with the Tigers during the club's inaugural season in 1970 and have been serving as part of the off-ice officials crew for 43 years. Robison says it's only fitting the Lanz brothers receive the honour given their remarkable dedication and commitment to the Medicine Hat Tigers and WHL.
