Medicine Hat Mavericks Prepare For Home Opener

The public had a chance at a sneak peek of training camp and batting practice at Thursday's (May 29) open house at Athletic Park.

The Medicine Hat Mavericks are preparing for their home opener against the Okotoks Dawgs on Sunday. The public had a chance at a sneak peek of training camp and batting practice at Thursday's (May 29) open house at Athletic Park. Mavericks Head Coach, Adam Shorsher, says he's liking what he is seeing in the team so far. He says, "We're off and running so hopefully these guys are "as-advertised" from the coaches that we have spoken to and we're going to get right into it." Shorsher adds going into the season, they're going to be extremely competitive and focused on the process of being good everyday. Shorsher says the challenges of starting the season is getting all the players to Medicine Hat, as flights for players from the United States to Medicine Hat can be expensive for players, adding they're in good shape as they have all but two players at this time. The Mavericks hit the field at Athletic Park against the Okotoks Dawgs this Sunday at 2:05PM. - Logan Piekema 


Mavericks Head Coach, Adam Shorsher, says the team is looking forward to another competitive season, starting the season with renewing the rivalry against the Okotoks Dawgs.
