High School Baseball Provincials, Medicine Hat Mavericks, Medicine Hat Tier II Sun Devils, Medicine Hat Knights and Moose Monarchs
The McCoy Colts are once again Southern Alberta High School Baseball League provincial champions. On Saturday, the Colts hammered the Central Catholic Cougars 13-3 in six innings at Jefferies Park. In the consolation final, Eagle Butte beat the LCI Rams 17-9. Hat High was the host of this years provincials.
The Medicine Hat Knights opened up conference play by sweeping a doubleheader this past weekend. On the road Saturday, they beat the Havre North Stars by score of 16-2 and 11-0, both were five inning games. Also this past weekend, the Medicine Hat Moose Monarchs picked up a 14-4 victory over the Lethbridge Elks at Athletic Park.
Medicine Hat's Junior B Tier Two Sun Devils kept their perfect season going with a 15-6 victory over the Calgary Axeman Rockies at the Kinplex Sunday. Reid Nodwell, Charlie Liebrecht, and Jeff Steiert all had three goals. The Tier Two Sun Devils now have a record of 7-0.
The Medicine Hat Mavericks are off to a 3-0 start in this young WMBL season. The Mav's downed the Yellow Jackets 7-5 in Saskatoon Sunday. On Saturday, over 1,100 people showed up at Athletic Park for the home openers against the Edmonton Prospects, who the Mav's edged 6-5. On Friday night, the Mavericks started their season with a 5-nothing win over the Lethbridge Bulls.
