Weekend Curling Roundup

A local rink came up short in the Mixed Doubles Provincial Champion, while a local foursome won bronze at the Alberta 55+ Winter Games.

A Medicine Hat team came up short this weekend in Camrose, of being the inaugural Mixed Doubles Provincial Champions. Tim Krassman and Vicki Sjolie made it through the the qualifying round and won both their quarter and semi final matches. However, the duo lost in the final game, 8-7, to Jason Lawrence and Melanie Puzzie out of Calgary. Lawrence and Puzzie move on to the Canadian Championship in Leduc next month.

Meantime, a local rink did bring home a bronze medal from the Alberta 55+ Winter Games held in Calgary over the weekend. Ted Ganden, Vance Elder, Gerry Munro and Stan Rath were third in the 70+ Men’s Category for Ice Curling. The foursome also scored an impressive eight ender during their competition.
