Knights, Moose Monarchs, Mavericks, Tier Two Sun Devils, Medicine Hat Speedway
The Medicine Hat Knights split a pair of conference games in Lethbridge on Saturday. The Knights won the first contest, 12-9 over the Miners. Zack Kunkel was 3-for-5 at the plate with three runs and three RBI's. The Minors rebounded in the second game for a 10-1 victory. The Knights now have a record of 5-and-1 in conference play.
The Medicine Hat Moose Monarchs hosted and won the 25th Annual Servus Credit Union tournament this past weekend. In the championship game Sunday, the Monarchs downed the St. Alberta Cardinals 8-0. Andy Scott got the win on the mound with seven innings of work and striking out four batters.
The Medicine Hat Mavericks got rained out in Weyburn on Saturday, so the teams played a doubleheader yesterday Sunday. The Mav's won both games over the Beavers, 9-4 in 11 innings for the the first and then 3-1 in the second. The Mavericks are leading the Western Major Baseball League with a record of 8-and-1.
Medicine Hat's Junior B Tier Two Sun Devils picked up a couple of road wins this past weekend. Adam Hertz had four goals on Saturday, as the Sun Devils beat the Okotoks Ice 15-7. Then on Sunday, Logan Swaren found the back of the net four times to help down the Calgary Rockies 16-7.
At the Medicine Hat Speedway this past weekend, Larry Hirch took first place in the Hobby Stock event. Ryan Funk and Trevor Stratton rounded out the top three. For IMCA Stocks, Jesse Fitzpatrick some out on top, followed by Bill Husty and Rolf Hirch.
