UPDATED: Accused Bank Robber Makes Brief Court Appearance

Stephen Vogelsang will remain in jail until his next court date later this week. Medicine Hat Police say regina Police are looking at similar offences that happened there.

UPDATE:  Medicine Hat Police say they have been in contact with the Regina Police Service who are looking at potentially similar offences in the Saskatchewan city.


A man accused of robbing 2 Medicine Hat banks last week made a brief appearance in court Tuesday (Oct, 24).  53 year old Stephen Vogelsang appeared in the prisoners box before Judge Darwin Greaves while Lethbridge defence lawyer Greg White had the case adjourned.  Vogelsang, who is a former journalism instructor and CTV Winnipeg news director, is accused of robbing the 13th Ave. RBC branch last Thursday and then the Dunmore Rd. BMO branch on Friday.  He was arrested by Medicine Hat Police on Saturday at a local motel without incident.  Vogelsang remains in custody until his next court appearance Thursday (Oct. 26) morning.  ~~  Warren Affleck
