Accused Bank Robber Makes Brief Court Appearance

53 year old Stephen Vogelsang will remain in custody while his lawyer prepares for a possible bail hearing.

The man accused of a string of bank robberies in Saskatchewan and Alberta made a brief appearance in Medicine Hat court Thursday.  53 year old Stephen Vogelsang was arrested in Medicine Hat after allegedly robbing the 13th Avenue RBC and the Dunmore Road BMO branches.  Police in Regina have charged the former CTV Winnipeg news director and journalism instructor with 3 bank robberies in that city and Saskatoon Police recently charged him with a bank robbery there.  Judge E.W. Peterson granted a short adjournment to Lethbridge defense lawyer Greg White so he could finalize details for a bail hearing.  Vogelsang will remain in custody until he appears in court again on November 22.  ~~  Warren Affleck
