Albertans Asked to Check Naloxone Kits in Case Drug Vials are Missing

Alberta Health Services says some kits distributed to clinics and pharmacies in the province are missing the naloxone vials.

Anyone in possession of a naloxone kit is being asked to make sure it actually contains the life-saving drug. Alberta Health Services says some kits distributed to clinics and pharmacies in the province are missing the naloxone vials. AHS contracts a third-party distributor to receive, store and distribute the kits and the health agency says it's working with this distributor and a supplier to determine the cause and extent of the issue. Each naloxone kit should contain two or three vials of the drug which can temporarily reverse an opioid overdose if given right away. -Tina Giesbrecht
