City To Purchase Land In The Northwest

City council has voted to approve the purchase of land in the northwest from the Box Springs Business Group.

City council has voted to approve the purchase of land in the northwest from the Box Springs Business Group. The price will be $4000 an acre, the price tabled at council two weeks ago. Alderman Ty Schneider was the only one to vote against the motion, saying the city owns 80% of developable land and now is not the time to add more. "Up there we own three sections of land," said Schneider. "We don't need the land, so to spend a million and a half dollars to buy that land right now is just a waste of money." Mayor Norm Boucher disagreed, saying the land is worth more than it's costing and that's a good deal for citizens.
