Cold Weather Grips Region Until 2018

Environment Canada is predicting the cold temperature and windchills will be around until New Year's Day

After most of December with above average temperatures, the Medicine Hat Area was plunged nearly overnight into below seasonal levels.  Environment Canada's Dan Kulak says the arctic air pushed through southern Alberta and well into the United States bringing frigid temperatures and wind chills.  Kulak says it will likely be New Year's Day before we see any significant warming.  Kulak says, "  The cold weather does look like it will last through the 31st and the New Year's Eve period.  The early part of January, the first couple of days, we do look at a return to something close to seasonal day time highs which is around -5.  The longer range beyond that doesn't suggest it's going to get significantly warmer."  Kulak says the Extreme Cold Warning for our region will remain in place until temperatures start to rebound to more seasonal values.  ~~  Warren Affleck
