International Olympic Committee Bans Russia From Competing in 2018 Winter Games

The International Olympic Committee is banning Russia from competing at the upcoming 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.

The International Olympic Committee is banning Russia from competing at the upcoming 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.  The 14-member board announced its decision Tuesday in light of allegations of state-sponsored doping which surfaced three years ago.  The IOC says it will allow individual Russian athletes to compete "under strict conditions" but only as neutrals under the Olympic flag. Russia could refuse the offer and boycott. The Games will be held February 9th through 25th in Pyeongchang. -Tina Giesbrecht
