Investigation Continues After Suspicious Package Scare

Medicine Hat Police want to speak with anyone who may have witnessed something suspicious Thursday, October 26 at around 3:00 pm along 8 Street NW

Medicine Hat Police continue the investigation into a suspicious package found near the Servus Credit Union on 8 Street NW Thursday (Oct, 26) afternoon.  S/Sgt. Cory Both says police took no chances and immediately closed off the zero hundred block of 8th Street and evacuated area businesses.  Both explains what was found on scene, "It was determined to be a mock device that looked like it was made up from some household electronics made up to look like an explosive device."  Both says members of the Explosive Disposal Unit remotely detonated the device to render the area safe.  Both adds investigators want to talk with anyone who was in the area around 3:00 to 3:30 or so and witnessed anything suspicious.  Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 529-8400 or to phone Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.  ~~  Warren Affleck
