Local entrepreneurs will have the chance to pitch their business ideas at a new competition this spring. Yesterday (Oct 17), accounting firm JMH & Co. donated $50,000 to APEX, a regional innovation network made up of Medicine Hat College, Community Futures Entre-Corp, and Alberta Innovates. Manager of Business Development at MHC, Tracy Stroud, says the funds will go towards hosting a Dragon's Den-style business challenge. “We are taking our student pitch competition to a new level, and we're actually starting a community pitch competition,” says Stroud, “All clients that are working with Community Futures and Medicine Hat College will get the chance to pitch for up to $10,000 to start their business.” Stroud says while an exact date has yet to be set, the competition is scheduled to take place in May. - Jaelene Skaley
