Tommy Banks, Liberal Senator for Alberta, was in Medicine Hat Tuesday evening for a music event and a little political talk.
He may have been here to play piano, but there was still time to talk politics. Tommy Banks, Liberal Senator for Alberta, was in Medicine Hat Tuesday evening, ahead of parliament resuming September 20th, to provide music and musings at the Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre. Speaking with CJCY News on the topic of senate reform, Banks says he's not opposed to a fixed term of no less than 10 years. In fact, Banks says it takes about four years to become well versed in the inner workings of parliament unless senators have a background in politics, which he says, many don't. Banks also tells CJCY News he fully supports the long gun registry and is keen to see what happens when a vote is held against the registry September 22nd.
