Man Charged With Arson, While MHPS Investigate Separate Fire

A home on Bridge Street S.E. went up in flames late Friday afternoon. Chad Stadnicki, 41, has bee arrested and charged.

A Hatter is facing charges of arson and aggravated assault after incident in the Flats last week. Around 5:30 p.m. Friday, a home on Bridge Street S.E. went up in flames. A 32 year old woman inside suffered significant burns to her body and remains in hospital. Chad Stadnicki, 41, has bee arrested and charged. He remains in custody until his next court appearance October 31st. City police say around $100,000 worth of damage was done to the home.

Meantime, a separate fire on the South East Hill is being investigated as arson. The Medicine Hat Police Service say it happened just after 10 p.m. Sunday on 9th Street S.E. The outer wall of a rear detached garage was cover in flames, which emergency crew quickly put out.
