Medicine Hat Airport Cancels Nearly All Flights in May 2018

The city says this is necessary to complete runway rehabilitation work on the strip that has not had any major resurfacing done for more than 2 decades

The Medicine Hat Airport will be cancelling nearly all flights next May in order to upgrade the runway.  The city says as part of the rehabilitation project, the main runway will be torn up and worked on before repaving takes place.  While crews will work 24 hours a day on the project, the city says it will be closing the runway from May 7 to May 31 to complete work on the 8000 square metre project.  Scheduled airline flights are being cancelled and those with bookings will be notified or can contact their travel agent.  Alberta Health Services says they are looking at options to keep air ambulances operational during that time.  ~~  Warren Affleck
