Record Methamphetamine Seizure Made in Medicine Hat

Police say more than 1 kilogram of meth was seized on December 3, following a short investigation

Medicine Hat Police and their ALERT partners have made what is believed to be Medicine Hat's largest methamphetamine seizure to date.  On December 3, the organized crime team made a planned vehicle stop on Highway 3 just inside the city limits where they seized more than a kilogram of meth, a smaller amount of cocaine and cash they believe is proceeds of crime.  S/Sgt. Cory Both says this particular seizure was significant in size, "This one time seizure, that we just did, is almost the equivalent of the entire cumulative seizures from last year.  A kilo of methamphetamine on Friday (December 3) and it was a total of 1.4 kilos for last year."  47 year old Shonna Scriven of Medicine Hat was arrested during the vehicle stop and now faces drug and proceeds of crime charges.  28 year old Michael Abate of Lethbridge faces drug and proceeds of crime charges.  Both accused remain in custody pending future court dates.  ~~  Warren Affleck
