SD #76 Focuses On Healthy Living

A focus on healthy living has once again helped Medicine Hat School District #76 become a leader among its peers.

A focus on healthy living has once again helped Medicine Hat School District #76 become a leader among its peers. The school board has announced a $50,000 grant from the Alberta Healthy School Community Wellness Fund will go towards programs such as cooking and recreation. Dr. Grant Henderson, Superintendent, says these programs benefit kids who aren't in organized sports like basketball or hockey and aren't necessarily interested in the competitive aspect those sports may offer. Henderson says the programming "may engage them more in the school and can help shape their life forward". Henderson also says several other school districts are looking at their programming and model other classes after it.
