Stage three of five is now underway on South Railway Street construction in the South Flats area.

South Railway Street construction in the South Flats area continues to progress. The third stage of the project, which runs from Smelter Avenue to 9th Street, got underway earlier this week. Project Manager, Sandeep Pareek, says there are some new closures for drivers to take note of. “In the initial stage of stage three, we'll be closing down the intersection at Smelter Avenue,” says Pareek, “Once that is done, we'll open it up and then the traffic will be west bound one-way traffic.” Pareek says for the time being, businesses can be accessed by way of 9th Street or Factory Street. He adds despite a few rainy days and unexpected setbacks that come with an older road, the project is still on track to wrap up by late fall. Meanwhile, South Railway Street construction downtown has also moved onto stage three and the 4th Street intersection is now closed. - Jaelene Skaley
