Four people are facing charges in teh most recent ALERT bust in the city.
Three firearms have been taken out of the hands of suspected methamphetamine dealers in Medicine Hat. The ALERT investigation also led to four arrests.
ALERT’s Medicine Hat organized crime team made the arrest and seizure on January 30, 2018. Medicine Hat Police and RCMP officers provided assistance on the case.
The short-term investigation focused on a group suspected of meth and firearms trafficking in the city. Nearly 100 grams of meth were seized, along with smaller quantities of cocaine and fentanyl.
“By conducting targeted investigations such as this one we are curbing violence associated to the meth trade and keeping our community safe,” said Staff Sgt. Cory Both, ALERT Medicine Hat.
ALERT seized a Smith and Wesson handgun, two 22-caliber rifles, and 128 rounds of ammunition. One of the suspects was prohibited from possessing firearms as the result of a previous drug trafficking conviction.
Lane Hogg, 34-year-old man, Riley Lundy, 24-year-old man, Alicia Myles, 29-year-old woman, and Cory Rieger, 42-year-old man, were arrested and charged with a total of 38 criminal offences
Hogg was charged with drug trafficking (x 4), possession of methamphetamine, trafficking a firearm, trafficking ammunition, possession of proceeds of crime, breach of weapons prohibition (x 2), and nine other firearms related offences.
Rieger was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking firearms (x 2) and trafficking firearms (x 2), and six other firearms offences.
Lundy was charged with drug trafficking (x 2) and drug possession.
Myles was charged with drug trafficking, possession for the purpose of trafficking, drug possession, and possession of proceeds of crime.
