Two Charged With Impaired Driving After Weekend Checkstop

A couple of people were charged after a checkstop in Medicine Hat over the weekend, put on by police and Mothers Against Drunk Driving. It started Saturday evening and went into the early morning hours of Sunday, with nearly 1,400 vehicles being checked. Two men were charged with impaired driving, but in one of those cases, a loaded gun was found in the vehicle. That person was also charged with Careless Storage Of A Firearm. Meantime, one person received a three day license suspension, one person was charged for driving with an inactive license, while there were several warnings for Liquor Act and vehicle equipment violations. The Medicine Hat Police Service says these checkstops will continue throughout the holiday season.
