School District #76 has given its approval to video surveillance in Medicine Hat schools.
Public School District #76 has given the green light to video surveillance in Medicine Hat schools, with a unanimous decision during Tuesday night's regular school board meeting. Dr. Grant Henderson, Superintendent, says privacy is always a concern for the board, but student safety is their top priority. Henderson says they do have other ways of protecting students if safety becomes a more significant issue, but he believes this is the right move for their student population. The decision to implement surveillance is now up to the individual schools. However, any school that decides to move forward with the project will have no additional funding from the school board.
