One of Medicine Hat’s busiest intersections is getting work done to improve traffic flow and decrease congestion.

The 13th Avenue and Trans Canada Way SE intersection sees about 20,000 vehicles per day and the city says it will make some changes.

Stan Nowakowski is manager of Engineering Services and says light patterns will be changing at that intersection and at those lights immediately south as well.

Nowakowski says, “We’ll be improving, or increasing the green light times to where the traffic is warranted.  So, where there’s more traffic will get longer green times.”

Nowakowski says the changes will take effect with Tuesday afternoon’s (June 11) commute and will be expanded down the road.
