Recent drug busts by the Southeast Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team have seen record amounts in seizures of some drugs.

ALERT is comprised of members of the Medicine Hat Police Service, the RCMP, and other agencies, in a collaboration to share intelligence and more.

Medicine Hat Police Inspector Tim McGough says the partnership allows police to target traffickers, no matter what jurisdiction they are in.

McGough says, “Those criminals don’t have any boundaries, so why should the police?  I mean, they can go out and actively target those individuals trafficking in our communities and causing the disruption that they do.  Because methamphetamine is certainly an issue.”

McGough says Meth continues to be the biggest problem drug seen in the Medicine Hat area.
