Medicine Hat’s newest Fire Chief was busy taking in her new surroundings.

Mia Chrun is a grade 6 student at Dr. Ken Sauer School and she won the city-wide Fire Chief for a day contest.

The 11 year old Chrun says, “the maze was the best part, it was fun to go through.”

Fire Prevention Officer Curtis Sjodin says it was a busy morning for the new Chief, “We took her down to Fire Station #1.  She got a full tour of that new station as that is the one where she lives in that response area.  She went through the different trucks and met all the guys and then came up to Fire Station #2.  She went through the training maze and she’s going to go up really high, maybe 100 feet, in the ladder truck bucket.”

The city-wide contest was sponsored by Gravity Sports for Fire Prevention Week and also included a pizza party lunch for Chrun’s entire class at school.
