Things are returning to normal for Cypress County firefighters following a couple of very busy weeks.

Crews dealt with multiple fires in nearly opposite ends of the county, along with a serious train derailment near Irvine.

Fire Chief Kelly Meyer says recent rains have helped, but more is needed.

Meyer says, “It’s helping quite a bit.  Cypress County is still going to stay in a Fire Ban, just due to the incident before the moisture, and during the Graburn and the Suffield incidents.  Cypress County was sitting in a drought code of around 400.  That’s extremely dry.”

Environment Canada is forecasting more rainfall in the area this coming weekend.
