Habitat for Humanity in Medicine Hat has officially announced the first new build in the city in 5 years.

The organization says everything is in place and construction will begin next spring on the duplex located on Southlands Dr. SE.

Regional committee co-chair Cal Nordlee says it’s the build is exciting.

Nordlee says, “This is thrilling, because you know we’re going to be doing 2 houses.  It’s been 5 years and takes quite awhile to raise the money.  Just to be able to put 2 families into a home is just going to be great.”

Habitat for Humanity will soon open up the application process that will see 2 Medicine Hat families selected for a new home.
