More impaired driving charges were laid in the city last year as compared to 2017.

Sgt. Clarke White with the Medicine Hat Police Service Traffic says very few of those charges were drug related.

White says, ” In 2018, we charged 141 people with impaired driving.  Off the top of my head I believe 5 of those were drug impaired driving charges.  The year before that we had 119 impaired driving charges.  So, we’re up a little bit”

White says impaired driving will remain a very high priority for officers to enforce this year.
