JazzFest, one of the most popular city events, has cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

JazzFest officials say the music festival will not be taking place this year.

Executive and Artistic director Lyle Rebbeck said the decision was about ensuring the safety of the artists, organizers, volunteers and the attending public.

Rebbeck said that it appears current travel and other restrictions will extend beyond the June timeline when JazzFest is held.

He added every effort will be made to re-book as many of the artists as possible for 2021.
