LAWN BOWLING TOURNAMENT TO BE FEATURED AT ALBERTA 55plus SUMMER GAMES July 4 – 7, 2019!

A sport that has been played in Medicine Hat for some hundred years will be featured in a special tournament when Medicine Hat hosts the Alberta 55plus Summer Games from July 4 to 7 this summer. The Medicine Hat Lawn Bowling Club is hoping this will help bring their time-honoured sport back into the local limelight.

“The earliest written records for Lawn Bowling in Medicine Hat are from 1924, but we believe it dates back some time earlier,” explains Lawn Bowling Club secretary-treasurer Curt Moll. “At that time, the Lawn Bowling green was located where the Royal Canadian Legion now stands. In 1956, the greens were moved to the present location at Division Avenue, just across the street from Swirls. We have always been in a prominent location in the centre of Medicine Hat.”
