The cities of Medicine Hat and Swift Current will be hosting the 2019 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

The international tournament is being held in Alberta for the first time since Lethbridge hosted the event in 2005.

Jeff Beck with Hockey Canada says it’s a chance to see Future NHL stars

Beck says, “You’re going to see the best 16 year old hockey players in the world and they’re going to be right here in your community.  Over the past several years, we’ve seen players like Connor McDavid, Austin Matthews, Alex Lafreniere.  The best of the best have come through this event and you’re going to see them right here in your own backyard.  We encourage you to get involved with the event, whether that’s as a sponsor, a volunteer, or just as a ticket holder.

The Tournament will run November 2-9 with schedules and ticket packages announced in the coming weeks.
