Medicine Hat Police say the first day of legalization was a quiet one for them.

Officer patrolled the areas around the three licensed cannabis stores in the city off and on through the day and say everyone was well behaved.

Officials say there were no cannabis related complaints and no tickets were handed out in the first 24 hours of legalization.

Redcliff RCMP say it was a likewise quiet day for members in the community.

Corporal Shane Ryan says officers did respond to an area school after a student was found with pot, but didn’t feel it was directly related to cannabis being legalized.
