Southeast Alberta is looking for a relatively mild winter according to The Weather Network.

Meteorologist Michael Carter is calling the Medicine Hat and area winter outlook to be better than average.

Carter says, “Everyone has a different definition for what they consider to be good news for a winter outlook.  For southeastern Alberta, the story we’re talking about for this winter is warmer than normal temperatures and below normal precipitation.  So, both a milder winter and a less snowy winter ahead.”

Carter says an El Nino setting up in the pacific and warmer waters in the Gulf of Alaska will be the two moderating factors this year.
