Medicine Hat Police have charged a female driver after a hit and run 2 weeks ago.

A twelve year old boy was struck by a Ford F-350 while crossing Carry Dr SE at Southview Dr SE within the marked crosswalk.

The motorist quickly scooped up the child, put him in her vehicle and left the scene before witnesses could intervene. The boy was dropped off in front of his residence and the driver fled without communicating with the child’s parents or leaving any information.

The boy suffered a head injury as a result of the collision.

Police said public assistance was instrumental in helping them locate the truck and the driver.

A 27 year old Medicine Hat female has been charged with: Fail to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, Fail to remain at the scene of an accident, Fail to report an accident to police, and Operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s licence.
