The Medicine Hat Police Commission says allegations it did not know about survey’s conducted in 2017 are misleading.

The allegations released last week from a city paralegal indicated a lack of trust and confidentiality, unequal treatment during recruitment and unequal opportunities for professional development.

Chair Greg Keen says Commission members were aware of the survey’s conducted in 2017 and have not been contacted with any complaints by officers or employees

Keen says, ” I can confirm the Medicine Hat Police Commission has not received any concerns or complaints directly from staff, or through the Police Association, regarding internal surveys conducted in 2017, or the subsequent actions taken by the MHPS as a result of the surveys.”

Keen admits the Commission was blindsided by the allegations made, but after a thorough review, fully support the Medicine Hat Police Service and Office of the Chief.
