It’s been nearly a year since cannabis was legalized and Medicine Hat still doesn’t have a bylaw.

A possible bylaw was sent back to the drawing board while council a year ago, adopted a wait and see attitude.

Mayor Ted Clugston says waiting really proved a bylaw wasn’t needed here.

Clugston says, “We were going to wait until after the festival season.  So after Spectrum, and Jazzfest, and Stampede, those kinds of events to see if it was a problem during the summer months.  Honestly, I don’t know what you guys have experienced, I don’t smell it.  I don’t see any increase more than it was before.”

Clugston says unless things change, the city will stick with the provincial regulations surrounding cannabis use in city limits
