The Medicine Hat College budget has been approved for the next school year.

However, funding cuts by the province have significantly impacted the College.

Through a combination of voluntary leave program and permanent layoffs, MHC has reduced staffing by the equivalent of 41.2 full-time positions.

There will also be 5 programs suspended as a result of the funding crunch, including Education Assistant, Addictions Counselling, Dual Social Work/Addictions Counselling, Bachelor of Business Administration, and University Transfer Engineering.

President Kevin Shufflebotham says the cuts affected the College’s most treasured asset, its people.
