The RCMP Major Crimes Unit says it was murder in the case of a body found south of Medicine Hat this week.

Investigators received the preliminary autopsy results back and the cause of death was determined to be homicide.

Police say the victim was a 27 year old Brooks man, but are not releasing his name.

The victim was found along a rural road on Tuesday and RCMP say they do not believe there is any risk to the public.

The investigation is continuing and no other details have been released.
