A State of Local Emergency (SOLE) continues in Cypress County as crews continue to deal with hot spots from fires.

Several fires both in the eastern and western portions of the county have kept firefighters busy since last Friday.

Cypress County Fire Chief Kelly Meyer says outside help was a key factor in the situation not getting worse than it did.

Meyer says, “We were stretched pretty thin.  We relied on mutual aid partners; Alberta Forestry, Saskatchewan, the RM, the City, farmers and ranchers to assist and help us.”

A helicopter will be doing a thermal imaging flyover of some areas tomorrow (this) morning, after which officials will decide on whether the SOLE will continue or not.
