Officials today announced 117 new cases of COVID-19 in Alberta reported in the last 24 hours.

Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw in her daily briefing said that brings the total cases in the province to 871.

The reason for the large was said to be a backlog of tests had been processed.

Hinshaw said there have been now 11 deaths in the province.

142 people are now being reported as recovered from the virus.

Hinshaw continued to stress the importance for all Albertan’s to continue to practice physical distancing and self isolation as required.
