Two people were seriously hurt after a train smashed into a pickup truck at an uncontrolled crossing near the Brooks Aqueduct. It happened around 6:30 p.m. Friday and RCMP say the 2008 GMC Seirra was trying to get across the tracks ahead of the oncoming train. The Brooks Fire Department had to get two people out of the mangled truck. The 21 year old Bassano man who was driving got taken to Brooks Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. A 17 year old girl from Brooks, who was a passenger, ended up being flown by STARS to Calgary in critical condition. She remains at Foothills Medical Centre, where she’s since been upgraded to stable condition. CP Rail Police are investigating the crash.
